One day my husband surprised me with an appointment at Blow. I had no idea and it was a lovely surprise (fellas take note!). Blow Ltd is a blow dry bar with two branches in London. It’s not a hair salon or a beauty salon but something in between, specialising in blow drys, make-up and nails.
At the Canary Wharf branch (the other branch is in Covent Garden) you can choose between eight different blow drys and four styles of make-up. I really like the concept of fast beauty — just go get a blow dry — after work, I mean why not!? Blow also offer a home visit service where more beauty services are available.
Blow Dry: I chose the ‘chic blow’ and loved the way the hair stylist blow dried my hair. I was very happy with the result although in the photos my hair looks a bit flat. It took her less than half an hour, in which she pinned up the curls at the end to get that bouncy look.
Makeup: The makeup artist was really nice and friendly so I felt comfortable with her doing my makeup. I think this is REALLY important when having your makeup done so you can tell her what you like and don’t like. I chose the ‘evening’ look out of four looks. The makeup was really heavy — although I looked glam I felt the foundation was so heavy I could smell it. My children really stared at me when they saw me! She mainly used Laura Mercier products but definitely felt it was caked. In photos it looks ok which is the problem with heavy makeup. The art is to make it not look caked in flesh.
I’d definitely use Blow again if I needed my hair done but probably not for makeup.
