Crazy Bear Hotel — Beaconsfield

Buying presents for your other half can be so difficult especially if they’re of the male species. The Crazy Bear Group kept popping up in my email so I thought let’s bite the bullet and book a night away at one of their three hotels. Initially I bought a gift voucher via the Crazy Bear website for a Deluxe room but I couldn’t get the availability for the weekend I wanted! I had called them a month in advance and there was nothing even a week before or after. So I took the Junior Deluxe option and the remaining credit could be used at their restaurant thankfully, but I was a bit miffed.

Once we got to Beaconsfield, we were pleasantly surprised at how pretty the Old Town is with lovely restaurants and a few independent shops, it’s a really nice way to spend an afternoon. Back to the hotel. Now Crazy Bear is certainly no ordinary hotel. Decadent and opulent it is completely over the top but that’s its appeal. We’re talking leather wallpaper, velvet furniture, mirrors and chandeliers. Definitely somewhere for that extra special occasion.

The rooms themselves aren’t huge but what you lack in square footage you make up in design. No two rooms are the same, so you can look at their website and choose your room. The bathroom was really large in proportion to the room with a black marble floor and gold taps, with a wet room style shower. Gaudy but I loved it!

The room has all your basic facilities including kettle, hairdryer, iron, shampoo/conditioner and really lovely shower gel and body lotion, complementary mineral water, free view telly and a room service menu.

Other than uniquely different rooms, the hotel has a Moroccan lounge where you can get drinks, and two restaurants — an English and a Thai. The Moroccan lounge is absolutely gorgeous, with everything Moroccan you can possibly imagine, large lamps, tables and mirrors. I also really loved the ornate staircase and toilets which were beautifully designed.

The hotel has a 24 hr pool and jacuzzi but as the pool is located next to the lounge with seating around it, it’s very open. We didn’t use it! There is also the option for a Thai massage but again it was booked up so couldn’t check it out.

Continental Breakfast was included which has all the usual things, fruit, pastries and some very tasty granola. Hot breakfast can be ordered for an extra fee. Crazy Bear also offer an Afternoon Tea which is a good way to experience Crazy Bear without spending a fortune on booking a room.

The staff were friendly and it was a great getaway from London without driving too far. Overall it was a very memorable stay and a great way to impressive your other half!
