What a breath of fresh air. I’ve had some recent bad experiences eating at Mexican restaurants, but Loco Mexicano has restored my faith in Mexican food.
The ambiance here is great-loud, fun and very Mexican. Sombreros are perched on every other seat, to give you the full Mexican experience. A great selection of drinks are available from the bar, including some cocktails with bewildering names!
For me nachos are a key part of a Mexican meal, they are a must have. The nachos here were crispy, warm and smothered in the right amount of sour cream, guacamole and cheese. You may think nachos shouldn’t be hard to get right but I’ve had some pretty grim Nachos at Chico Mexico, and nachos frankly are important to me. The menu has a lot of choice with many appealing dishes and caters for most people’s dietary requirements. An excellent selection of chicken, beef and seafood dishes, and of course not to mention a selection of gaucho steaks. The 10oz sizzling Mexican chilli steak, topped with smoke chilli sauce and garlic butter, brought out all the flavours of this delicious beef beautifully, and was the highlight of the evening. I had it medium-well done, and it was cooked to perfection. Sometimes the portions at Mexican places are too huge to finish, but here they were just right. Although some people in our group didn’t finish their food, I polished off every last bit.
Oh and let’s not forget dessert. The chocolate fudge cake with whipped cream is divine as is the Belgian waffle with ice cream. If you know me well, you’ll know my obsession with Belgian waffles, these really hit the spot.
A big thumbs up to the staff who are friendly, despite being rushed off their feet, and happy to answer any questions about the menu. One of my pet hates is when the waiter/waitress has to keep going to ask the chef, because they don’t know the answer themselves.
A fun night out is guaranteed here, and most importantly the chicken and beef is halal here, so go eat your heart out!
