Unpacking racism

Unpacking racism

There’s so much to unpack when it comes to racism and I’m only scratching the surface, but doing nothing is not acceptable anymore. We can only defeat racism if non-black people speak up and stand up for the black community. Understand your privilege and admit your privilege. Black people are tired of talking and explaining. It’s time we do the hard work and educate ourselves.

My favourite podcasts and Instagrammers

I’m continuing with the blog challenge today with something slightly different by listing my favourite podcasts and instagrammers. I have many interests in life so this list of my favourite podcasts and instagrammers will be a little eclectic. Most podcasts I listen to are for […]

How I’m keeping the kids entertained during lockdown

How I’m keeping the kids entertained during lockdown

How am I  keeping the kids entertained during lockdown? Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4.

Do I really need to write anything else for this post? No come on I’m not that much of a bad parent *ahem*.

My family’s favourite meals

My family’s favourite meals

I’ve written three recipes that are easy and simple to make and loved by my children especially. When I asked them what they like the most they mentioned a few, and I ignored the nihari and pilau because they’re long-winded and not for everyone. So I stuck to the more basic, daily recipes.

My top 3 bucket list destinations

My top 3 bucket list destinations

Travelling may be off limits but dreaming about travelling is not. We can dream, we can create itineraries and what Covid-19 has done, is made us appreciate our travels and holidays even more. All those countries I’ve visited in the past, I’m grateful for the opportunities. But of course like every keen traveller the list of desirable destinations to go to, never ends.

My family’s favourite board games

My family’s favourite board games

As we are on lockdown (global pandemic incase you’re reading this in 2025) board games are now coming out of the cupboard at a higher frequency. It’s difficult to find board games that are more fun for children than the iPad/PS4/Nintendo Switch/their phone/computer but it can be done. Sometimes I have to coerce my family into playing board games because I love games and organised fun. Yes I’m that person!

How I stay fit and healthy during lockdown

How I stay fit and healthy during lockdown

Staying inactive is really attractive right now especially when we’re not allowed to leave the house. But thank goodness for the internet! There is no excuse to be a couch potato every day. So here’s the point — there are days where we wake up full of beans and there are days where we do not want to or just cannot bring ourselves to move. And that’s ok but what is important, is to be productive on the days where we do have the motivation and of course the time. The days we feel energetic are the days to capitalize on.

How to get closer to Allah during lockdown

How to get closer to Allah during lockdown

We are living in unprecedented times. Such a time that we will probably never experience again in our lifetimes. With destruction and dismay, there is often opportunity. As a Muslim, Allah has presented us with an opportunity. An opportunity to turn to Him.

A review of the last book I read

A review of the last book I read

Welcome to the first post of my 16 day blog challenge! So today I will write a short book review of a book I finished quite recently, The Parcel by Anosh Irani. Now just to let you know, since having children, I haven’t read a huge amount of books, which is probably the worst side effect of having them. Worse than the belly flab!

16 day blog challenge

16 day blog challenge

I don’t know about you but who else has Corona virus fatigue? I mean everybody’s life has been turned upside down and that certainly needs to be acknowledged but it’s something that doesn’t need to be talked about on every single outlet. Sometimes we need a breather, a bit of light reading perhaps?

The Fallacy of ‘Getting Brexit Done’

The Fallacy of ‘Getting Brexit Done’

Whether the UK leaves the EU with the current withdrawal deal (that didn’t get through parliament) or we leave with a ‘no-deal’ Brexit, the long and complicated Brexit journey has just begun. The no deal Brexit on ‘WTO terms’ means that we have to negotiate every single deal with the EU and the rest of the world all over again.

Domestic Abuse and How to get Help

Domestic Abuse and How to get Help

It can be difficult to acknowledge when you or someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse. There are lots of signs that you could pick up on to identify when a relationship is abusive. Ask the following questions about the victim and abuser to identify domestic abuse.

How to solve a problem like climate change

How to solve a problem like climate change

Amongst all the chaos Boris has been ensuing on us this week, the other news story that has troubled me is far more important. When Prince Harry says that he sometimes can’t sleep because of the problems in the world, I say to him damn right you should have sleepless nights over this.

Thank you Mr. Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi

Thank you Mr. Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi

I want to thank Mr Dhesi because he’s done something that not many MP’s have done. He’s done something that Muslim MP’s have not done, and that is to hold Boris Johnson accountable for his words. And whether you might think this wasn’t the time or the place, I think it was perfect because it’s sending a message to not only Boris but to the whole country. There is no room for racism or anti-muslim rhetoric in Britain in 2019 and it will not be tolerated. It won’t be tolerated by MPs and it wont be tolerated by minorities.

When it comes to Brexit, democracy simply doesn’t work

When it comes to Brexit, democracy simply doesn’t work

If Brexit was a movie, you might describe it as Armageddon or Groundhog Day or Just Kill Me Now (ok that’s not an actual movie) but the Brexit rollercoaster ride that the British public has been on has really taken a turn for the worse this week.

On the Blog: Beauty Regrets of 2016

We all have a few regrets in life right? How about in 2016? This year I didn’t buy a lot of luxury products, just high street branded products that are for regular use. Below are some of the more regretful purchases that I made in […]
